Pavlica,Tatjana; Rakic,Rada; Sironjic,Tijana.
Morphological characteristics of children commonly imply the processes of growth and development. Information on children's growth in height and their body weight is often used as the indicator of the children's health and nutritional status. As the parameters are changeable both temporally and spatially, it is important to provide their continual assessment. The aim of the study is to investigate the changes in morphological characteristics in a sample of Serbian 7-year-old children in the period 2005 2014. The data was gathered from medical documentation recorded in the period 2005-2014 in the local health-care centre "Dr Dusan Savic Doda" in Beocin, which is situated in the central part of the province Vojvodina, the north-west part of Serbia. Effekte der Staalichen Marktintervention auf den Weizenmarkt in Serbien während der Nahrungsmittelkrise in 2007/2008 AgEcon
Djuric, Ivan; Gotz, Linde; Glauben, Thomas.
This paper analyzes how the market interventions of the Serbian government during the food crisis 2007/2008, inter alia a de facto export ban, have affected domestic wheat market. Besides a comprehensive description of the crisis policy and its effects on the Serbian wheat market, we investigate how it influences the equilibrium and stability of the Serbian wheat market and its integration with the world market within a price transmission model. Applying a Markov-switching error correction model to weekly wheat grower prices in Serbia and world market prices, two states of the wheat market are identified. Our results suggest that the market equilibrium was disrupted and that the market stability was reduced especially after the export ban and during the so...

Promoting Sustainable Market Institutions in the Transition Economies: the Role of International Assistance AgEcon
Cochrane, Nancy J..
This paper examines the role of international technical assistance in building the institutions critical to the success of market reform in the Transition Economies. While there have been many successful grass roots projects aimed at helping individual firms or associations compete in the market, projects aimed at institution building (credit markets, market information, agricultural extension, food safety and animal health regulations, etc.) are not always so successful. These projects succeed only when the recipient Government truly buys into the project and is willing to commit its own resources. These services tend to be public goods, so attempts on the part of donors to bypass Government institutions and privatize these activities are usually not...

ROLE OF AGRICULTURE AND MULTIFUNCTIONAL RURAL DEVELOPMENT IN SERBIA AgEcon
Bogdanov, Natalija; Vasiljevic, Zorica.

There are potentials for development of agrarian entrepreneurship on one hand, but on the other, there are constraints in existence of great number of small family farms whereas the huge share could not have commercial profile and could not live only from agricultural activities. The concept of...
